    Whiteboards

A shared drawing surface for the thinking that does not fit in a document.

    Overview

Whiteboards is a gallery of shared boards for the thinking that resists a document: a system sketched during a call, a workshop laid out in sticky notes, an architecture argued out in boxes and arrows. Create a board, open it, and what you draw is saved as you go, so there is nothing to remember to press. Boards are shared rather than personal, which is the difference between this and Canvas: a whiteboard is a place a team draws together, while Canvas is your own arrangement of your own tasks.

    Highlights

The capabilities worth knowing before you dive in.

    • A gallery of shared boards, so the team's drawing is in one findable place
    • A full drawing surface: shapes, arrows, text, freehand and sticky notes
    • Edits saved as you work, with nothing to remember to press
    • Shared by default, because a whiteboard nobody else can open is a notepad

    Important to know

Limits, permissions, and sharp edges to keep in mind.

    • Boards are shared with your workspace. Anything you draw is something colleagues can open.
    • The canvas loads when you open a board rather than with the gallery, which is why the gallery appears first and the board a moment later.
    • Whiteboards is for drawing together. For your own arrangement of your own tasks, use Canvas; for a structured diagram you will maintain, use Diagram Studio.
    • A board is a drawing rather than a record. Nothing on it becomes a task on its own.

    How to use it

The primary workflow, start to finish.

    1. 1Open Whiteboards to see the boards your workspace has.
    2. 2Create one and name it for what it is about, since colleagues will find it by that name.
    3. 3Draw. Everything is saved as you work.
    4. 4Come back to it later, or send a colleague to it. It is shared already.

    FAQ

    Do I need to save?
No. Everything you draw is persisted as you work, so there is no save button to forget and no way to lose a board by closing the tab.
    Who can see my board?
Your workspace. Boards are shared rather than personal, which is what makes them useful and worth remembering before you sketch something sensitive.
How is this different from Canvas?
Canvas arranges your own tasks in your own space. A whiteboard is an empty shared surface for drawing with other people, and nothing on it is a task.
Should I use this or Diagram Studio?
A whiteboard for thinking that is temporary and collaborative. Diagram Studio for a structured diagram you intend to keep, maintain and export.
