    Timeline

Gantt-style layout for tasks with start and due dates.

    Open module/timeline
    planning

    Overview

Tasks with both startsOn and dueOn render as horizontal bars. Items without a schedule appear in an Unscheduled rail so you can drag them onto the grid to plan.

    Highlights

The capabilities worth knowing before you dive in.

    • Deterministic timeline-layout helper in shared-types (no third-party Gantt library)
    • Unscheduled drawer for backlog planning
    • Zoom between day, week, and month views

    Important to know

Limits, permissions, and sharp edges to keep in mind.

    • A task with only a dueOn (no startsOn) renders as a single-day bar on the due date.
    • Dragging re-writes startsOn and dueOn. To preserve duration, grab the middle of the bar, not the edges.

    How to use it

The primary workflow, start to finish.

    1. 1Filter by project via the picker above the grid.
    2. 2Drag from the Unscheduled rail onto a day to plan it.
    3. 3Use the month zoom for a cycle view, and the week zoom for execution.

    FAQ

Why is one of my tasks missing from the timeline?
A bar needs both a start date and a due date. A task with neither appears in the Unscheduled rail so you can drag it onto the grid, and a task with only a due date renders as a single-day bar on that date.
How do I move a timeline bar without changing its duration?
Grab the middle of the bar rather than an edge. Dragging the body moves the start and the due date together; dragging an edge moves only that end, which is how a duration changes.
Do I need a separate Gantt product for this?
No. The layout is computed by a deterministic helper inside Atlas rather than by a third-party Gantt library, so the same rows produce the same arrangement every time and there is nothing extra to license or install.
