    Notifications

Per-user inbox of actionable events with web-push and email delivery.

    Open module/inbox
    personalcollab

    Overview

Every notifyable event (a mention, an assignment, an approval request, or an automation action) lands in the per-user notification inbox and optionally fans out to web-push subscriptions and email.

    Highlights

The capabilities worth knowing before you dive in.

    • Web push via VAPID keys
    • Expo push for the mobile app
    • A digest email option for low-frequency users
    • Mark-read and archive with a single keyboard shortcut
    • WhatsApp as a fourth channel, chosen per notification kind alongside in-app, email and push, with delivery and read receipts

    Important to know

Limits, permissions, and sharp edges to keep in mind.

    • Mentions are first-class: @-typing into any rich-text field enqueues the notification immediately.
    • Push works only when VAPID_PUBLIC_KEY and VAPID_PRIVATE_KEY are set on the server.
    • WhatsApp is off by default and stays off until you turn it on, because it needs consent before the first message rather than an opt-out after it. Turning the channel on says you want it; the number itself must also be opted in before anything is sent, and replying STOP opts it out immediately and permanently until you opt back in with START.
    • Anything Atlas sends you on WhatsApp is an approved template rather than free text. WhatsApp only permits free-form messages within twenty four hours of you writing in, so a notification the product initiates is always a template, and a message that cannot be delivered is recorded with the reason rather than retried.

    How to use it

The primary workflow, start to finish.

    1. 1Open /inbox to see the full list.
    2. 2Press "m" to mark-read, or "a" to archive the focused item.
    3. 3Enable browser push at /settings/notifications for the pinned-tab experience.
    4. 4The same screen carries In-app release announcements, which turns the panel that announces each new release on or off. It is the switch that undoes Do not show again on the panel itself.

    FAQ

Why do push notifications never arrive?
Web push requires the VAPID public and private keys to be set on the server. Without them the inbox still fills normally and only the push fan-out is silent.
Why did typing an at sign and a name not notify the person?
A mention has to be chosen from the typeahead. A raw at sign followed by text is just text, so it renders but notifies nobody. Select the name from the list as it appears.
Can somebody receive less without turning notifications off entirely?
Yes. A digest option collects low-frequency traffic into a single email rather than sending each event, which suits somebody who wants a record without an interruption.

    Automate this module

Everything on this screen is scriptable. Drive it from the REST API, or let an AI agent run it through the MCP server.
